Gcc Printer Drivers
I have a GCC 1212 printer that is not recognize by my imac, running 10.6.3. No drivers seem to be available. GCC seems to be out of business. Anyone have a solution. Stardict Dictionaries French there. I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and get not get my GCC 21N Laser Printer to work. GCC said this: GCC has never provided drivers for the Mac.
More info: It sounds like at least two of you have tried using ethernet as the direct connection to the printer (w/a hub or switch counts as a direct connection). And used wireless as your internet connection. If that is correct, what you may have missed is the requirement to setup ethernet with a manual IP address Not in the same subnet as the wireless/Airport.
When ethernet has a self-assigned IP address, OS X assumes ethernet is down. Does that help? Sorry if this comes a few days late - I hoped someone else could help you, too. Aug 29, 2010 3:36 PM.
Yes, my configuration is as you describe. Here's what the GCC Elite 1212's configuration page printout lists: Under printer information: Ethernet Address 00:C0:B0:03:94:CA Under Interfaces: Ethernet (Active) TCP/IP (Enabled) IP Address: 0.0.0.0 IP Address Class: C Subnet Mask: FF.FF.FF.00 IP Broadcast Address: 255.255.255.255 Queue Name: Elite I switched the Ethernet Port I have the hub connected to from self-assigned to 'Using DHCP with manual address. Since the default IP Address was 0.0.0.0, the same as that listed above, I left it alone but that wasn't acceptable as I got this error message: 'The value entered is reserved for the default route and cannot be used as the IP address for this computer.' I then tried entering 1.0.0.0 as a test.
That was accepted but, but the printer went into a pause mode. I also tried setting up the Ethernet using the choice 'manually' but ran into the same roadblocks. I also checked the settings for my AirPort to make sure the address numbers were different, and they are. Am I any closer? Aug 29, 2010 8:20 PM. So, I tried the settings you recommended (although there was no field in either the network or printer set up box to put in a subnet mask) and then tried to print a document.
The printer's queue showed a progress wheel spinning and said that print information was being copied, but then timed out and said that it couldn't connect to the printer. As soon as I deleted the job, it said 'Printer Ready.' Since the manual setup screwed up the connection to my much newer Brother MFC, I reverted back to DHCP. I'd like to have the Elite 1212 as a backup printer and the QMS 330's tabloid format comes in handy now and then, but, man, Apple sure messed things up going from 10.5 to 10.6!
Aug 30, 2010 1:30 PM. You'll see above in the Elite 1212's info printout that 'Elite' is listed as the queue name.so that's what I've been using. I'm using LPD. I found the way to change the IP address on the printer to 192.168.002.004 but could not change the subnet mask to anything like 255.255.255.0 (255.255.255.255 is listed as something called Broadcast Address). The choices for the subnet mask are 6 variations like FF.FF.FF.00., FF.FF.FF.FC, etc.
