We had a strange problem this morning resulting from a change that went in last night. Bishop David Oyedepo Sermons Download there. We have a CL program that performs a STRCMTCTL, then calls COBOL program 1 which puts file A under Commit Control, then COBOL program 1 calls COBOL program 2 which also uses file A but not under Commit Control, when COBOL program 2 finishes it returns control to COBOL program 1, when COBOL program 1 finishes it returns control to the CL program, which performs an ENDCMTCTL. This all works fine. Last night, we amended the layout of file A by adding some extra fields to the end.

We also added a new logical file over file A. Both COBOL programs were recompiled. (The extra fields and logical file are used by another program.) When the CL program was called this morning, COBOL program 2 failed to access file A, giving a status code of 9P. File A was journalled, and there were no object locks or outstanding Commitment Control definitions. We put back the old file defintion, recompiled both COBOL programs and called the CL program.

Everything worked as before. Does anybody have any ideas on what might have been the cause of our problem?

I have been working with Mainframes and Z.OS and recently shifted to a shop which uses AS400. Administration Training Courses Uk. I am extremely comfortable with Fileaid, and now, since the time i understood the way PFs are created and are viewed through DDS to be in formatted manner, its really getting tough for me. Because, the shop i am using, for smoe reason, dont have DDS defined for all the files. So, I am looking at any option/utility where i can provide the COBOL Copybook as input and, a source member would be generated with a DDS written accordingly? Did anyone hear/see anything of that sort?
