Version 4.0 was to be the last version of XTree Gold to be developed. By 1994, Xtree had been acquired by Central Point Software, which in turn was acquired by Symantec in 1995. By that stage, Symantec decided to cease development of XTree Gold and focus on Norton Navigator for Windows 95. Sales discontinued for Version 4.0 by the end of 1997, with support ending by early 1998. Version 4.0's retail box noted being 'Chicago-Ready' which meant it was now able to support long file names for the upcoming Windows 95 release. It also had over 120 WYSIWYG file viewers, PKZip 2.x support for ZIP files, and still able to use the same keyboard shortcuts as the DOS versions. Installation instructions Requires Windows 3.1 or later.
